My Anthem

I've hear a lot of people say its not the content of the music but the person who sings it and how it sounds. But you see I completely disagree a song should be about what it says you know, its like you would just read a book strictly because of the author, the words that the book contain is the thing that attract you to read it.
Give me a second I

I need to get my story straight
My friends are in the bathroom
Getting higher than the Empire State
My lover she's waiting for me
Just across the bar
My seats been taken by some sunglasses
Asking 'bout a scar
And I know I gave it to you months ago
I know you're trying to forget
But between the drinks and subtle things
The holes in my apologies
You know I'm trying hard to take it back
So if by the time the bar closes
And you feel like falling down
I'll carry you home

The reason I love this song even though people say it sucks its because this song is a plea, well not a plea but a promise to a girl you know, more like a proposition. The author through this song created a scenario of this really dorky guy who likes this girl and shes really pretty and why out of his league. But as soon as some dude clears away from the way he steps in and says "I know that I've told you this before and your probably doing everything in your power to forget about, but what I'm offering you is my undying love." Now most wouldn't get that all they focus is on the rhythm. I wonder if people knew the meaning of the song would they like it more?
