The Pledge

So I have been doing the morning announcements since my Junior Year and I have been saying the Pledge for a long time, but now I understand what it actually means. When you repeat a sequence of word everyday, you seem to forget what it means.

"We Pledge today to do our very best to work and explore with confidence we know we can dream with self respect and self esteem."

This shows a school filled with unity, a school that focuses on teamwork and dedication we seem to forget. what things mean when we regurgitate words. This pledge is intended for our success. The authors intended this pledge as a way to remind ourselves that we can do anything.

Curiosity or Certainty?

There is a poem by Margaret J. Wheatley, that is called Turning to One Another, I first stumbled upon this poem, during Justice Talks. Teng introduced this Poem as the theme for our justice talks, the poem in its entirety is incredible and powerful but there is a part of the poem that really catches my attention;

Treasure curiosity more than certainty. I think that she wanted to convey that point, that sometimes being curious is more important , than being sure. This quote is just completely powerful, I mean it makes sense curiosity implements a feeling of discovery in you.

When Life Hands You Lemons... Make Lemonade

This is kind of embarrassing but there is this Disney Movie called "Lemonade Mouth" and I really love their songs, pretty much all of them. The reason I like them is because these songs are inspiring but from their whole album I've picked out a song called "We'll always be more than a band," may be I am just being very emotional now, under these circumstances. But this song is what friendships are all about, this song is about a group of people, who are complete strangers but share one common interest; their passion for music.

You used to brave the world
                                                         All on your own
Now we won't let you go, go it alone

This is my favorite quote from the song because, this is the part where unity began in the song. Which is why I love it so much... well for at least today. The author intended to use emotional appeal when he wrote these lyrics? This is true because after listening or reading these lyrics it makes you think of your best friend and how they make you feel.

A Book Really??

For many year there has been a great controversy regarding the reading this book in schools. This book is a great example for English classes when studying the literary devices, this book is Huckleberry Finn. It is about a n uneducated white boy who runs away with a slave. There a lot of controversy because it is offensive to African Americans, I think in order for a book to be such a classic it needs to be real, and that what the author did, with each word and sentence he brought us deeper into the world of Huckleberry Finn.

You don't know about me without you have read a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer; but that ain't no matter.
-Mark Twain

This book was made by Mr. Mark Twain, and he told the truth, mainly. There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the truth Mark Twain used dialect and, figurative language in order to make the audience a part of this world. Mark Twain was the first to do the impossible was able to unlock the door to how life use to be; what people really though. I think that the controversy is not all about the language in the book, I think it is about how the characters are portrayed. It is simple the characters are real, a boy that has a drunk for a father(real). And a person to yet know who he really is(real). Can anybody Identify the the device used in this quote.

Rise

So there is this song by the Mcclain sisters for a New Disney Nature movie it is called "Rise", that song its just inspiring it is all about unity, how maybe we feel as though we can't do anything and it may be true but the most important thing is that together we can do anything. The lyrics are powerful.Together we can do anything

We’ll rise
We can make it through anything
We’ll rise
Together we can do anything
We’ll rise, we’ll rise, we’ll rise

I picked this part of the song because it's the part of the song where the author uses repetition of the Phrase "We'll Rise" which gives the song a emotional appeal , because while I was listening to this all I could think of was closest friend. How we accomplished so many thing together, I've things with this Senior Class that I have never done before. This song is like our anthem because  we've stuck together through trails and tribulations we've cried on each other shoulders and we pretty much done everything imaginable. I didn't E-Cubed, but I am extremely glad I did I've made friendships here that I can say I will have forever. The funny we are all so different but at same time just the same, we all thrive for the future we thrive to do something more. Its funny how lyrics can make emotions pour out.

Social Networks Good or Bad?

Some people that you nothing from being on Social networks but that is not true, believe it or social networks have they're upside. Like everything in the world it has negative things but social networks I thinks it is what unites people, common and same opinions are reached in these social networks, we know about the whole people killing themselves because of cyber bullying, people have yet to see the upside. Know I have both twitter and Facebook and believe it or not that's were i stay in touch with the outside world. Almost everyday on my news feed there is a post to help someone, when the Kony thing rose up again, people on Facebook and Twitter began to voice they're opinion, that is what Social Networks are about.Social Networks give people a voice makes them feel like they're not alone. I don't if people realized this whether it is written in proper grammar or not people are constantly writing because of these social networks, it is also a way to express yourself with no boundaries you can who ever you want to be. I read this quote from twitter about a by was dying from cancer "Who ever you are and Where ever you are don't give up, I am Here!" Two strangers bound together by these social networks. Which brings me back to how words can alter people's life and never be the same.

Dr. Seuss

We have all read his books, and many think that kids shouldn't read his books because they don't follow "intelligent speaking" as he would say I am talking about Dr.Seuss From his Green eggs and Ham to Cat in the Hat. But My favorite quote from him is definitively this: Now the reason why I like this quote its because this quote which I didn't know before uses a literary device, Its he literary device that repeats the end of the clause in the beginning of the new clause. Can this literary device?
